Doors, halls and floors
A walker, a wheelchair or a bad knee each need a different width. We measure the one you use.
Doors, halls and floor changes decide whether a room can be reached at all. Often the answer isn't a new wall: it's offset hinges, a flush threshold or a door that swings the other way.
What's included
Wider openings, or offset hinges that give an inch or two
Lever handles and hardware for weak hands
Flush thresholds and even flooring between rooms
Pocket or sliding doors where a swing blocks the way
Floors that grip underfoot and are easy to roll on
A clear path between bed, bath and kitchen

What changes the cost
We don't print a price for this work. These decide the number you'll get in writing.
The wall
Widening an opening in a load-bearing wall needs a beam and a permit. In a wall that carries nothing, it's far simpler.
The floor
Matching one room's floor to the next is easy. Matching a whole house's floor is not.
The door itself
A new hinge is quick. A pocket door means opening the wall.
Association rules
Some associations control the style of exterior doors and the color of the frame.
How it goes
- 01
Step 1: Measure the path you use
We measure with your walker or chair, not a tape alone.
- 02
Step 2: Choose the fix that changes the least
Hinges and thresholds first, walls only if they must move.
- 03
Step 3: The work
Floors are covered and dust is sealed off from the rest of the house.
- 04
Step 4: Roll or walk through every door
We check each opening with the person who uses it.
Questions about this work
Can you widen a door without moving the wall?
Often by an inch or two with offset hinges, which can be enough for a walker. We measure before we say.
Will a new floor match what I have?
We bring samples and tell you plainly where a match isn't possible, and what a clean change at a doorway would look like.
