How it works

From the first call to the final walk

Six steps, the same for a rail and for a bath. You can stop after any of them.

  1. 01

    Step 1: A call or a text

Tell us who lives there and what's hard. A photo of the steps or the bath helps.

  2. 02

    Step 2: The walk-through

We measure, watch how you move through the house and ask what you do before a storm. Family can join by phone.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The written scope

The work in the order we'd do it, the products by name, what's left out and a price for each piece.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Approvals and orders

We file the permit, send your board what it needs and order anything made to measure.

  5. 05

    Step 5: The work

One project manager, floors covered, dust sealed off and a clean-up each day.

  6. 06

    Step 6: The final walk

You use every rail, seat and shutter before we call it done. We leave the warranty terms and the product sheets with you.

Week one

What the first week in your house looks like

Most people worry more about the work than the house. Here's what to expect when it starts.

We lay floor protection from the door to the work. We seal the work area with plastic so dust stays out of the rest of the house. We tell you in advance which water and power will be off, and for how long, and we keep a working bathroom or sink available. If a named storm turns toward the coast, we secure what's open and stop.

You'll see

  • Floors protected from the door to the work

  • A sealed work area and a daily clean-up

  • A day-before text on what's happening and who's coming

  • A working bathroom or sink until the new one is ready

Living in the house during the work

Do I have to leave?

Almost never. We plan so you keep a bathroom, a sink and a bed. If a job truly needs you out for a day, we say so in the scope.

Who will be in my home?

Our own carpenters and project manager, plus licensed electricians and plumbers for their trades. You'll know each name before they arrive.

What if you find something behind the wall?

We stop, show you, and write a change before we do anything more. Nothing is added without your signature.

A walk-through takes about an hour and a half.
