FAQ

Questions, answered

What happens at the walk-through?

We measure, take photos and watch how you move through the house. It takes about an hour and a half. A written scope follows.

Does it cost anything?

The walk-through and the written scope don't cost anything and don't oblige you to hire us. The scope is yours either way.

What changes the price?

The floor under the room, how far things move, the materials, the number of openings and the approvals the house needs. The pricing page explains each.

Do I need a permit?

For plumbing, structure, new openings and many ramps, yes. We file it, and send your association what it needs.

How long does a job take?

A rail can take a day. A bathroom takes weeks. Made-to-order windows and doors add weeks before the work starts. The scope has the schedule.

My house was built before 1978. Does that change anything?

It can. Federal rules for lead-safe work practices apply to paid work that disturbs paint in homes built before 1978. Small repairs under 6 square feet inside or 20 square feet outside are exempt, but window work and demolition always count. Tell us the year on the first call, and the scope will say how the work is handled.

Who will be in my home?

Our own carpenters and project manager, plus licensed electricians and plumbers for their trades. You'll know each name before they arrive.

What if you find something behind the wall?

We stop, show you and write a change before doing more. Nothing is added without your signature.

What does the warranty cover?

Our workmanship, in terms written into your contract. Products carry their makers' warranties.

What do you not do?

Roofs, additions, new homes, storm cleanup and insurance claims. We'll tell you who to call.

Still have a question?

Call or text, and a person will answer.
